Christmas Bread

Servings 3 loaves, Cook+Prep Time: 2 hr 15 min

Ingredients: 

 
  • 2 pkgs. yeast (or 4 1/2 tsp)
  • 1/2 c. warm water
  • 1 tsp. sugar
  • 1 1/2 c.(12 oz. can) evaporated milk
  • 1 c. sugar
  • 2 tsp. salt
  • 1 1/2 tsp. ground cardamom
  • 4 eggs
  • 7-8 c. flour
  • 1/2 c. melted butter
Frosting:
  • 3 cups powdered sugar
  • 1/2 cup salted butter
  • 4 tbsp. milk
  • 1 1/2 tsp. vanilla

Tips: It takes about 3 hours to make, so allow yourself plenty of time. You could try all-kinds of toppings, you could top 1 of the loafs with a chocolate sauce and a cream cheese glaze, or keep it simple and just brush a loaf with egg wash and sprinkle with sugar for example.
